This summer and fall, Dianne will be touring internationally with Sing The Truth!, a production honoring the music and spirit of great female artists. Dianne joins Angelique Kidjo and Lizz Wright in continuing the legacies of Miriam Makeba, Abbey Lincoln, and Odetta, and performimg songs by other great women in music ranging from Billie Holiday to Lauryn Hill, along with selections of their own original songs.
On April 12th, Dianne was honored to perform at the 120th Anniversary Gala of Carnegie Hall. Hosted by and featuring James Taylor, the evening also included guests Barbara Cook, Steve Martin, Bette Midler, Sting and former president Bill Clinton.
The New York Times said of Dianne's performance: "Although Ms. Reeves performed only one number, the Billie Holiday lament, 'Don't Explain,' it was a killer." (for the full article, click here)
The Boston Globes called Dianne's performance "breathtaking". (for the full article, click here)
When
You Know, a collection of love songs whose perspective on love
ranges from youthful innocence to enlightened maturity.
Produced by George Duke, When You Know is Dianne's
most commercial offering in years; featured tracks
include The Temptations, "Just My Imagination"
and Minnie Ripperton's "Loving You."
Also included in the
mix is a different kind of love song, a new original
"Today Will Be a Good Day." A rollicking
blues, the lyrics are a collection of the words of
wisdom Dianne's mother repeated to Dianne since she
was a child, and mirrors Dianne's mother's love of
life.
